Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- Your tumor is a type called pMMR/MSS (meaning it is not the kind that usually responds to immunotherapy alone).
- The lower edge of your tumor is within about 7 inches of the anal opening.
- Your tumor is at a stage where it has not spread to far-away organs (stage cT2-4 and/or N+ but not T4b, N2, or involved lymph nodes outside the pelvis).
- You have not had prior cancer treatment for this rectal cancer.
- You are generally well enough to carry out daily activities (ECOG score 0-1).
