Who can take part
- You are 55 years or older.
- You have advanced AMD (geographic atrophy or scar) in both eyes.
- You had cataract surgery in both eyes at least 6 months ago.
- Your best corrected vision in both eyes is between 20/80 and 20/800.
- You still have useable side vision in the non-surgery eye.
- You can see at least 2 lines better on a vision chart with a special training device in the surgery eye.
- The depth of your eye's front chamber is at least 2.5 mm in both eyes.
- The cell count on the inside of your cornea is at least 1600 cells per mm² in both eyes.
- You are willing to take part in a training program after surgery to learn how to use the implant.
- You do not have active bleeding in the back of the eye, diabetic eye disease, certain other eye conditions, or have had a retinal detachment.
- You do not have a history of glaucoma or high eye pressure, and are not allergic to post-surgery medications.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and if you could become pregnant, you agree to use effective birth control.
