Who can take part

  • You have chest pain (angina) that limits your daily activities despite medical treatment.
  • You need bypass surgery, confirmed by a heart catheterization.
  • A CT scan shows hardening (calcification) of the main artery from your heart (ascending aorta), making standard clamping risky.
  • You do NOT have a large old heart attack with no living heart muscle, or severe heart enlargement (heart size more than 75% of chest, weak pump with EF under 30%, or very large left ventricle).
  • You are not having valve repair or other open heart surgery at the same time.
  • You have not had open heart surgery before.
