Who can take part

  • You are currently having a specific type of major heart attack known as STEMI.
  • You are scheduled to have a procedure (PCI) to open the blocked artery.
  • You have not had a heart attack or heart bypass surgery in the past.
  • You do not have a pacemaker or certain heart rhythm problems like atrial fibrillation or bundle branch block.
  • You do not have severe kidney disease, severe valve disease, or serious electrolyte imbalances.
  • You are not taking certain medications that affect heart rhythm, such as some antidepressants, antibiotics, or anti-arrhythmics.
