  • You are an adult (18 years or older).
  • You have a central line that was placed less than 72 hours ago and is expected to stay in for at least 7 more days.
  • You are covered by a health insurance or social security plan.
  • You agree to participate, or a family member or legal representative can give consent if you are unable.
  • You do not have a known bloodstream infection right now.
  • You do not have a skin infection, blood clot, or allergy at the line insertion site.
