  • You are or your loved one is a patient in an intensive care unit (ICU), post-operative ICU, or post-resuscitation ICU
  • You have a central venous catheter in place (a thin tube in a large vein for medication or dialysis)
  • A sample from your catheter showed bacterial growth when tested
  • You are able to provide informed consent or a family member can do so on your behalf
  • You have not been excluded by the research team for any reason
