This study looks at whether sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) affects the type of rotator cuff tear you have. You'll get a shoulder MRI to check your rotator cuff and muscle measurements.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with rotator cuff syndrome (shoulder pain or weakness from rotator cuff problems).
  • You are between 40 and 75 years old.
  • You have not had surgery on your shoulder before.
  • You do not have other shoulder problems besides rotator cuff syndrome.
  • You have not had hip or thigh surgery, and you can walk without a wheelchair or being bedridden.
  • You do not have cancer, a neurological disorder, or memory/thinking problems.
