Who can take part

  • Your baby was born after 28 weeks of pregnancy (not extremely premature) or full term (at least 37 weeks).
  • Your baby developed breathing problems within the first 6 hours after birth, like fast breathing, chest pulling in, or grunting sounds.
  • Those breathing problems lasted for more than 6 hours.
  • Your baby is less than 12 hours old when joining the study.
  • Your baby has a Silverman-Andersen breathing score of 3 or more.
  • Your baby is already receiving breathing support through small tubes in the nose (NIPPV).
