Who can take part

  • You are 19 to 75 years old
  • You have a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with a weight-related health condition (like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, or prediabetes)
  • You have tried to lose weight before with diet and exercise but weren't successful
  • You are willing to follow a reduced-calorie diet and exercise program for the study
  • You are not taking any weight-loss medications, diabetes medications, or other drugs that affect weight right now
  • You do not have diabetes, a history of certain stomach or pancreas problems, or a personal or family history of a rare thyroid cancer
