This trial tests two types of high-intensity pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (one using two modes, another using one mode) to see if they can reduce pain and improve function in older adults with knee osteoarthritis. You would attend 9 treatment sessions and do exercises at home.

Who can take part

  • You are 60 years or older
  • You have knee osteoarthritis (any stage) diagnosed by a doctor and confirmed by x-ray
  • You have had knee pain for at least 6 months, rated 3 or higher on a 0-10 pain scale
  • You can walk (with or without a cane or walker)
  • You are able to understand and follow instructions
  • You are not taking NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) or steroid medications now, including shots in the knee
