Pulsed electromagnetic field for inflammatory knee osteoarthritis

This study tests if a pulsed electromagnetic field device can help reduce pain and inflammation in people with a certain type of knee osteoarthritis that shows up on MRI as inflammatory. If you have mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis with clear signs of inflammation, this non-invasive treatment might be an option for you.

Who can take part

  • Your knee pain on a 0–100 scale is less than 40 (mild pain).
  • An MRI shows inflammation in your knee (like synovitis) with a score of 2 or higher.
  • Your knee X-ray shows moderate osteoarthritis (Kellgren-Lawrence grade II or III).
  • You can speak, read, and understand Chinese, and are willing to follow the study plan.
  • You do not have another inflammatory arthritis (like gout or rheumatoid arthritis) and have not had steroid treatment in the past 4 weeks.
