Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have signs of shock, such as low blood pressure, confusion, cool skin, or low urine output.
  • Your shock is caused by blood loss, infection, or dehydration (not a heart attack or lung clot).
  • You are not pregnant, and you do not have severe heart failure or lung disease that affects your blood vessels.
  • You do not have a condition that makes it hard to see the large vein in your belly with ultrasound.
