Who can take part

  • You are a woman age 18 or older.
  • You have a finding seen on a mammogram or ultrasound, such as a cyst, mass, or calcifications (white spots).
  • For the part using light plus ultrasound: you are not pregnant, you have no sores or rashes on the breast being studied, and you are not taking any medicines that make your skin sensitive to light.
  • You are willing to undergo an advanced ultrasound exam of the breast.
  • You do not have a history of a disease that makes your skin sensitive to light.
