Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older and have varicose veins in your legs (confirmed by a doctor and ultrasound).
  • You must have had a radiofrequency ablation procedure on the main leg vein (great saphenous vein).
  • After the procedure, you either take a standard dose of a blood thinner (like aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin, or a newer anticoagulant) as prescribed, or you take no blood thinners at all.
  • You must be willing to come back for follow-ups: a bleeding check at 30 days and an ultrasound at 6 months.
  • You cannot have other types of varicose veins caused by a clot or birth defect, or have a bleeding disorder like hemophilia.
