Who can take part
- You must be between 12 and 17 years old.
- You need to be scheduled for braces (with metal wires) on both your top and bottom teeth for at least 6 months.
- Your body mass index (BMI) should be 25 or higher (overweight) or between 18.5 and 24.99 (normal weight).
- Your lower front six teeth must be present, with only mild to moderate crowding (less than 7.5 mm).
- You cannot use tobacco products on a regular basis, and you cannot have serious health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or cancer.
- You must be willing to give your OK (with a parent's or guardian's permission).
