Who can take part

  • You must have a diagnosis of a specific epilepsy syndrome called DEE-SWAS (confirmed by a pediatric neurologist or epilepsy specialist).
  • You must have had developmental delays or loss of skills in at least one area (such as movement, language, or thinking).
  • Your overnight sleep EEG must show that more than half of your brain wave activity during sleep is abnormal (spike-wave index of 50% or higher).
  • You cannot have serious heart, lung, or liver problems, or be allergic to melatonin or certain other medications.
  • Participants who have started menstruating must not be pregnant.
