Who can take part

  • You must be 5 years or older.
  • You must have a diagnosis of asthma.
  • For the uncontrolled asthma group: you must have had asthma symptoms on at least 2 days in the last week.
  • Your FeNO level (a measure of airway inflammation) must be at least 30 parts per billion (or 25 if you're under 18).
  • You cannot have used certain asthma medications recently, like inhaled steroids (within 2 weeks) or steroids by mouth (within 4 weeks).
  • You cannot be a heavy smoker (10 pack-years or more) or have smoked in the last 6 months.
