Who can take part

  • You are 45 years or older and had hip fracture surgery after a low-energy fall (like tripping).
  • You had a mild heart injury (elevated troponin level) around the time of surgery.
  • You are not already on certain blood thinners (like rivaroxaban) or antiplatelet drugs (like clopidogrel).
  • You do not have severe kidney disease (GFR under 15) or severe liver disease.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to the study drugs (rivaroxaban or aspirin).
