This trial looks at whether tightness in a small chest muscle (pectoralis minor) is linked to rotator cuff tears. If you have a partial rotator cuff tear or a healthy shoulder, you might be able to join to help answer this question.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 55 years old.
  • You have a partial rotator cuff tear and are scheduled for surgery, OR you have a healthy shoulder with no rotator cuff or other shoulder problems seen on an MRI.
  • You have not had any major injury to your shoulder.
  • You do not have thoracic outlet syndrome or an inflammatory disease like rheumatoid arthritis.
  • You have not had surgery on the affected shoulder before.
  • You are willing to participate in the examination.
