Who can take part

  • Your baby is in the hospital for tests because a liver doctor thinks they may have a blocked bile duct (biliary atresia).
  • Your baby is not being treated for this at home.
  • Your baby has signs of jaundice from blocked bile flow (cholestasis).
  • Your baby is not on IV nutrition and not eating by mouth for reasons other than short-term tests or surgery.
  • Your baby has not had any bowel surgery or other procedures that could put blood in the gut.
