Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have ALS (diagnosed by a doctor using standard criteria) and your symptoms started within the last 2 years.
  • Your lung function (FVC) is above 60%, and you do not have severe breathing or nutritional problems.
  • You do not have serious liver or kidney disease, or any active infection or metabolic condition that could affect the test results.
  • If you are at genetic risk for ALS (have a family history and a known genetic mutation) but have no symptoms, you may also be eligible.
