Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have a confirmed or suspected infection with organ failure (sepsis).
  • You are not taking high doses of steroids (more than about 30 mg of prednisone daily for over 15 days).
  • You are not currently using biologic medications (like medicines for autoimmune diseases).
  • You do not have a weakened immune system due to cancer treatment, low CD4 counts, a primary immune disorder, or an organ or bone marrow transplant.
