Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- You have had leg pain, numbness, or cramping (with or without back pain) that gets worse when standing or walking and hasn't improved after 3 months of treatments like rest, therapy, or medication.
- If you have symptoms in both legs, they must completely go away when you lie down, and a physical exam shows no nerve issues in at least one leg.
- An MRI shows narrowing in your lower spine at one or two levels, and X-rays while standing show the bones are unstable at the narrow spots.
- You have not had any prior back surgery or trauma to your lower spine.
- You do not have an active infection, tumor, or tuberculosis in your spine, and you are healthy enough for surgery (no severe medical problems, bleeding disorders, or osteoporosis).
