Who can take part

  • You are between 50 and 75 years old.
  • You have spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spine) that is confirmed by an MRI or CT scan and causes leg pain, numbness, or trouble walking.
  • The problem is in just one area of your lower back (between L2 and S1).
  • You have tried at least 3 months of non-surgical treatments (like physical therapy, pain medications, or injections) without enough relief, and you are ready to consider surgery.
  • Two spine surgeons have reviewed your case and agree that both types of surgery in this study are reasonable options for you.
  • You understand that which surgery you get will be decided randomly, and you agree to be part of this study.
