Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older
  • You have septic shock (severe infection causing very low blood pressure that needs medicine to raise it, and high blood lactate)
  • You already have a central line (a special IV in a large vein near the neck or chest) to measure CVP
  • You are not pregnant
  • You do not have serious right-side heart failure or a leaky tricuspid valve
  • You do not have high belly pressure or an irregular heartbeat (like atrial fibrillation)
