Who can take part

  • Age 50 or older
  • Diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica (either new or not improving with treatment)
  • Not taking steroids, or taking less than 15 mg of prednisone per day for at least 2 weeks before starting
  • Active disease (PMR-AS-CRP score greater than 17)
  • No other inflammatory joint disease, connective tissue disease, or blood vessel inflammation
