This study tests if combining a type of brain stimulation (repetitive TMS) with a medication (methylphenidate, commonly used for ADHD) can improve apathy in people with dementia. If you have Alzheimer's or mixed dementia and struggle with low motivation, this trial may help you.

Who can take part

  • You have Alzheimer's disease or a mix of Alzheimer's and vascular dementia.
  • Your recent memory test (MMSE) score is between 10 and 28.
  • You have noticeable apathy (loss of interest or motivation).
  • You've been on a stable dose of any psychiatric medications for a while.
  • You have a caregiver who spends at least 10 hours a week with you and can help with the study.
