Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with sickle cell disease.
  • You are between 16 and 35 years old.
  • Your hemoglobin level is 9.0 g/dL or lower.
  • You have had no more than 1 sickle cell pain crisis per year in the last 2 years.
  • You have had at least one complication from red blood cell breakdown (hemolysis).
  • You are currently taking hydroxyurea.
