Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 90 years old.
- You are scheduled for a planned surgery that uses general anesthesia and a breathing tube.
- You are able to give consent and communicate in English or Thai with the medical team.
- You do not have sleep apnea, a current lung infection, or a chronic lung disease (like COPD).
- Your BMI is 35 or less, you are not pregnant or at high risk for stomach contents entering your lungs, and your surgery is not on your face, head, neck, or airway.
- Your surgery is expected to last 3.5 hours or less, and you have no known or predicted difficulty with placing a breathing tube.
