Who can take part
- You are between 1 and 70 years old.
- Your doctor suspects you have XDR enteric fever, or a blood test has confirmed it.
- If you are a married woman of childbearing age, you must have a negative pregnancy test before joining.
- You have never had a bad reaction (like a rash or severe allergy) to azithromycin or meropenem.
- You do not have a history of heart problems with abnormal EKG, or liver issues from past azithromycin use.
- You are not taking any other medicines that could negatively interact with meropenem or azithromycin.
