Who can take part
- Your child is between 2 and 16 years old
- Your child has been diagnosed with XDR typhoid fever—a drug-resistant form confirmed by blood or culture test
- Your child is admitted to Children's Hospital & Institute of Child Health in Lahore, Pakistan
- You (parent or guardian) can provide informed consent to participate
- Your child has no known allergy to meropenem or azithromycin (the antibiotics being tested)
- Your child does not have severe underlying conditions like heart disease, kidney failure, or immune system disorders
