Who can take part

  • You are over 18 years old
  • You have a type A aortic dissection that needs surgery, or a type B aortic dissection that is being watched and treated without surgery
  • You can have an MRI (no metal implants, no claustrophobia, no kidney problems that would stop you)
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or in labor
  • You don't have an allergy to gadolinium (a contrast dye used in MRIs)
