Who can take part

  • You are a woman who is overweight or obese (BMI of 27.5 or higher).
  • You have low iron stores (ferritin level below 30).
  • Your hemoglobin is at least 11, meaning you are not severely anemic.
  • Your fasting blood sugar is normal (under 5.6 mmol/L).
  • You have not taken high-dose iron pills or IV iron in the last 2 months.
  • You do not have type 2 diabetes or conditions that affect iron absorption.
