Who can take part
- You have a type of lung cancer called squamous non-small cell lung cancer (squamous NSCLC) that is stage IIIB, IIIC, or IV and cannot be removed with surgery or cured with radiation.
- You have not had any prior chemotherapy or other cancer treatment for your advanced lung cancer (but you may have had treatment before it spread, if it ended more than 6 months ago).
- You must be able to provide a tumor tissue sample (from a recent biopsy or surgery) for testing to check for certain markers like EGFR and PD-L1.
- You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a CT scan (and it hasn't been treated with radiation before).
- You are generally in good health, able to take care of yourself (ECOG score of 0 or 1), and your life expectancy is at least 12 weeks.
- You do not have active brain metastases, uncontrolled infections, serious heart problems, or other recent cancers (except for some skin or early-stage cancers).
