  • You are between 25 and 60 years old
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 30 and 40 (a measure of body fat based on height and weight)
  • You are willing to take the medication and follow an exercise program
  • You do not have serious heart, lung, or ear problems, and you are not pregnant or a smoker
  • You have not had weight-loss surgery or endoscopy in the past year
