Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have septic shock, which is a severe infection causing very low blood pressure.
  • You cannot be pregnant.
  • You cannot have existing heart problems like heart failure, arrhythmia, or valve disease that is moderate or severe.
  • You must be able to get a clear picture of your heart using an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound).
