Who can take part

  • Baby is a newborn (boy or girl).
  • Baby is considered high-risk, such as being very sick, having an infection, seizures, or breathing problems.
  • Baby had a low APGAR score (less than 7) or low birth weight (less than 5.5 pounds).
  • Baby was born after a difficult or instrument-assisted delivery.
  • Baby does NOT have major birth defects, genetic metabolic diseases, or severe infections picked up in the womb.
