Who can take part
- You must be 65 years of age or older.
- You must have at least a high school diploma (or higher education).
- You are scheduled for lung surgery to remove a part of the lung (such as wedge resection, lobectomy, etc.) through an incision in the side of your chest (thoracotomy).
- Your surgery will be done under general anesthesia (you will be completely asleep).
- You should be in good enough health to be classified as ASA I, II, or III (this means no severe ongoing medical problems).
- Your body mass index (BMI) must be between 18 and 40.
