Who can take part

  • You are 60 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for elective lower-limb orthopedic surgery (like hip or knee replacement) under spinal anesthesia.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or less.
  • You do not have a history of psychiatric illness or seizures.
  • You do not have severe heart, lung, or blood pressure problems, and you are not taking blood thinners that cannot be safely stopped.
