This trial tests a simple breathing exercise done for about 5–10 minutes each day for 8 weeks. It aims to see if this exercise can reduce your risk of dementia. If you are between 60 and 80 years old and have at least one risk factor for dementia, this study may be a fit for you.

Who can take part

  • You are between 60 and 80 years old.
  • You have at least one dementia risk factor (like high blood pressure, memory concerns, a family history of dementia, or a sedentary lifestyle).
  • You can do a 5–10 minute daily breathing exercise for 8 weeks.
  • You do not have unstable heart or lung disease, recent major medication changes, or severe depression.
  • You are able to communicate in English.
  • You do not have a pacemaker or other medical implants with magnets or electronics (this affects body composition measurements but not participation in the main study).
