This study looks at the link between metabolic syndrome and gum disease. You may be eligible if you have at least three signs of metabolic syndrome and generally healthy teeth and gums.

Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old.
- You have at least three of these: large waist size, high blood pressure or taking blood pressure medicine, high blood sugar or diabetes, high triglycerides, or low good cholesterol.
- You have at least 20 natural teeth.
- You haven't had gum treatment in the last 6 months.
- You haven't taken antibiotics, steroids, or anti-inflammatory drugs in the last 3 weeks.
- You do not have autoimmune disease, osteoporosis, or cancer.
- You are not pregnant and do not have an active infection like hepatitis, tuberculosis, or AIDS.
