Ultrasound vs. Arthroscopy for TMJ Disc Displacement Treatment

This study compares two guided injection techniques—ultrasound and arthroscopy—to deliver platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), a regenerative treatment, into the temporomandibular joint (the jaw joint). PRF may help reduce pain and improve jaw function in patients with disc displacement who haven't improved with conservative care like splints or physical therapy.

This trial compares two treatments for a jaw joint problem where the disc is out of place. One treatment is a procedure called arthroscopic surgery (ARS), the other is ARS with a joint washout and injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to help healing.
