- You are between 60 and 80 years old.
- You are scheduled for a planned (not emergency) lower limb surgery, like a knee replacement or fracture repair.
- You are not taking blood pressure medicines, beta-blockers, or beta-agonists.
- You have no history of stroke, Parkinson's disease, or other neurological conditions.
- You have no bleeding disorders and have not taken blood thinners in the last 2 weeks.
- You are at least 150 cm (about 4'11") tall.
