- You have Parkinson’s disease diagnosed in a way that matches the UK Parkinson’s Disease Society standard
- You’ve had Parkinson’s for more than 5 years
- You are under 75 years old
- Your shaking/movement improves by at least 30% after taking levodopa
- Your doctor says you are a candidate for STN deep brain stimulation (stimulation targeting a specific brain area)
- You do not have severe memory/thinking problems, severe psychiatric conditions, atypical Parkinson’s, or reasons you cannot safely have brain surgery
