You may be able to join if your symptoms match Parkinson’s disease criteria and you respond well to levodopa (a common Parkinson’s medication).

Who can take part

  • You have Parkinson’s disease diagnosed in a way that matches the UK Parkinson’s Disease Society standard
  • You’ve had Parkinson’s for more than 5 years
  • You are under 75 years old
  • Your shaking/movement improves by at least 30% after taking levodopa
  • Your doctor says you are a candidate for STN deep brain stimulation (stimulation targeting a specific brain area)
  • You do not have severe memory/thinking problems, severe psychiatric conditions, atypical Parkinson’s, or reasons you cannot safely have brain surgery
