Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for elective surgery on your arm, elbow, or hand.
  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have a normal nerve exam in the arm being operated on.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is under 30.
  • You weigh at least 40 kg (about 88 pounds).
  • You do not have heart disease, bleeding problems, or nerve damage in that arm.
