Who can take part
- Your child must be between 1 and 18 months old.
- Your child's weight must be between 5 and 10 kilograms (about 11 to 22 pounds).
- Your child needs heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass).
- The surgery will be done by either Dr. Bohuta or Dr. Greene.
- Your child cannot be on ECMO (a machine that helps the heart and lungs).
- Your child cannot have an active infection or a known genetic syndrome.
- Your child cannot have a pork allergy, and your family cannot avoid pork products.
