Who can take part

  • Born at 27 weeks or less and less than 3 months old at time of treatment
  • On breathing support like a ventilator or CPAP (not just low-flow oxygen)
  • Has a large PDA (at least 1 mm wide) found in the last 2 days
  • Your baby's care team has decided to close the PDA with surgery or a catheter procedure
  • No major birth defects, no serious heart defects (except small holes), no recent kidney failure, no blood pressure medicines, and no history of abnormal heart rhythm
