Who can take part

  • You have low iron levels (ferritin below 45) but are not anemic (hemoglobin above 120).
  • Your weight is less than 70 kg (about 154 pounds) and your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9 (normal range).
  • You are not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and not a strict vegan.
  • You do not smoke more than one cigarette per week.
  • You have no ongoing inflammation (C-reactive protein below 5) and no gut or metabolic conditions that affect iron absorption.
  • You have not taken vitamin or mineral supplements in the last 2 weeks, and no blood donation or transfusion in the last 4 months.
