Who can take part

  • Born more than 6 weeks early (before 34 weeks of pregnancy)
  • Less than 30 days old at the start of the study
  • Diagnosed with apnea of prematurity (breathing pauses that happen in preemies)
  • Not on a breathing machine (ventilator)
  • No major birth defects
  • Not being treated for a serious infection (sepsis) or bleeding in the brain (grade 3 or higher)
