Who can take part

  • You are over 18 years old.
  • You are in the hospital for worsening heart failure (shortness of breath, fatigue, or fluid buildup).
  • You have at least one sign of fluid overload, like leg swelling or crackles in your lungs.
  • You received at least 40 mg of IV furosemide (a water pill) in the hospital.
  • You can provide consent within 24 hours of admission.
  • You are not on dialysis, have very low or high sodium levels, or need intensive care.
